Feifei Zhao

Erasmusplein 1

Feifei Zhao is a research master’s student, who had received her BA in English translation and Interpretation from Tianjin Foreign Studies University, China; and her regular MA in Language and Culture from Linköping University, Sweden. At the moment, she is trying to figure out the probable trend of historical development, change and variations of olfactory and taste vocabulary in Mandarin Chinese by collecting data from records of oracle-bone inscriptions and ancient literatures. In addition, she is also interested in how Ewenk and Hezhen, two Tungusic-speaking groups indigenous to Manchuria, would name and categorize scents and tastes in their languages. Currently, she has one field site at Aoluguya, settlement of the last reindeer-herding Ewenk tribe in China; and will establish another at a Hezhen village at the south bank of Ussuri river.
